Let’s make Houston stronger.
We build community by giving back.
At First Community, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. With a big heart for education, we work with the Houston Texans and other community groups to benefit Houston teachers and schools. Here’s a look at how we do it!
Stars in the Classroom
Each year, we team up with the Houston Texans to help students thank ten exceptional Houston area teachers (Elementary – High School). From September 1st through November 15th each year, students can nominate teachers who’ve made an impact on them to show their appreciation for all they do in the classroom. Winning teachers receive:
- A visit from a Houston Texans player
- A commemorative, custom game ball
- Two (2) tickets to a Houston Texans home game with sideline passes
- $500 donation to your school district in honor of the winning teacher
- $200 Gift Card compliments of Palais Royal
Students: If your teacher wins, so do you! When you nominate a winning teacher, we’ll give you a football autographed by a Houston Texans player.
Nominations are currently closed. Check in July for updates.
TORO Shoots for the STAAR
We’ve teamed up with TORO to get elementary students pumped up for the STAAR! This educational assembly emphasizes the importance of preparing for the test both physically and mentally. During the 30 - 45 minute program, TORO video conferences with
Houston Texans players and cheerleaders to discuss top test prep tips:
- Proper nutrition
- Daily exercise
- Attentive listening
- Consistent study habits
The program includes audience interaction, fun prizes, and an activity book for each student to take home.
Teachers: Win a free assembly! Nominate your school for the chance to win a free visit with TORO, the Official Mascot of the Houston Texans!
Nominations will open in August 2018

A big heart for the Houston community.
We’re proud to support school districts and organizations throughout the Greater Houston area through charitable donations and community outreach. From our Annual Food Drive to our work with Children’s Miracle Network, and our annual Operation: Stocking Stuffer toy drive, we work to build a better tomorrow for Houston. We also host Shred Days to help protect your privacy by destroying confidential information.
Building financial awareness.
We’re big believers in education. That’s why we educate our members on financial topics for a lifetime. We promote financial awareness through member seminars on investing, auto or home buying, saving for retirement or education, and more.
Partnering with organizations.
We make selective donations to non-profit organizations that align with our credit union values as well as benefit the FCCU community.
